How to Make 2018 Your Best Year Yet

Hola! I recently returned from spending a week in the beautiful Dominican Republic, my last international trip before the year ends. I was so excited to celebrate my accomplishments of 2017 by embarking on a week-long adventure full of fun and relaxation. Some of my best moments were spent reflecting on the balcony of my condo that overlooked the beach (as pictured above). Around this time last year, I created a vision board and visualized how I wanted my year to go. Many of the things that I wanted to accomplish this year happened! And, traveling abroad was definitely on the top of my list. Country 16!
I find it so ironic how many have individuals stated that I am living my best life and the good news is you can too… I am a firm believer in creating a vision board to imagine the life you want. I just want to live life to the fullest and help you do the same. Of course, a vision board only works if you do. However, a vision board can be a powerful tool to motivate you to create your best life. It serves as a simple reminder to kick your year into high gear and help you along your journey. Plus, it's simple to make. All you need are a few things and directions to get you started.
Tools Needed:
Glue or tape
Old Magazines or pictures from the internet
Scissors
Markers
Paint, Stickers, Glitter (optional)
Blank Poster Board
Directions:
Step 1: Get Comfy
What better way to plan and design your vision board then by creating a relaxing atmosphere. Turn on your favorite music or even light some candles. Think about what you want to happen in 2018.
Step 2: Make A List
As you take the time to reflect, make a list of the things you want to accomplish. Do not limit your dreams and goals. Write it all down! What have you always wanted to achieve? What did you put on the back burner in 2017 and previous years? Make 2018 the year you step out of your comfort zone.
Step 3: Cut & Paste
Let’s get crafting! Now that you have a clear vision for 2018 use magazines or pictures from the web to find images that symbolize your vision. You can add a personal mantra or inspirational quotes to make your board pop. Once you have gathered all of the pictures you want, create a collage on your blank poster board. If you have a creative block, check out Pinterest for some ideas.
Note: A colleague of mine recently created a vision board filled with nothing but quotes and written goals. It was a creative alternative to a picture vision board, and it still turned out to be pretty cool!
Step 4: Show It Off
When your board is complete, display it in a place where you will see it regularly. Making it visible should inspire you to turn your vision into a reality. Think about what steps you will take to make it happen and do it!
